Lorenzo Mendoza, born in Venezuela on October 05, 1965, is the head of Empresas Polar, the country's largest food company founded by his grandfather. The company produces and sells beer, flour, condiments, tuna fish and wine. Mendoza has been a long-time critic of the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and continues to face opposition from current President Nicolas Maduro, who has accused him of reducing production and hoarding products to create shortages. Mendoza has denied these accusations, and in December 2015, government officials entered Polar's Pepsi plant in Caucagua, detained employees and ordered them to restart production of goods, but the company said they could not due to raw material shortages caused by Venezuela's currency control system. The employees were subsequently released.Lorenzo Mendoza & family is a member of Food and Beverage
